Spring is coming!

In the last couple of months the sun comes and goes taking the temperature up and down with it. Today was no different, luckily I caught the tail end of the nice weather.

I took my 'new to me' DSLR on a short walk - I have some way to go to get used to the differences between my bridge camera and this proper, grown-up one.

Here are a couple of shots and a link to a few more on Flickr HERE.

Redbubbleartparty

Redbubble are running a little competition on instagram, so I thought I'd join in.
I browsed for photos that people were submitting to the challenge with the idea an artist would come along and transform / develop their image.
Here's the original photo and my finished piece as a repeated pattern and as the pattern template - well, most of it. I removed some of the pattern edge to make copying it more tricky.

London Photo Day: Regents Park Lake

I had a photo day in London with virtual friends from a photo sharing group on facebook -

I have uploaded them in sets onto flickr. Here are the pictures I took around the lake in Regents Park. There are flowers, herons, baby geese, a fountain sculpture and deckchairs.

Here's the link to my flickr stream: Regents Park Lake

And here are a couple to whet your appetite

A year of being inspired to take a photo a day

Having started on November 1st 2012,
There is a photo for every day,  following the prompts from Fat Mum Slim photo a day.
Some days I used an archive photo but most were taken on the day.
I used my android phone or my canon bridge camera.

Here they are in monthly collages - but first of all this collage, with my highlights.

The five photos in the middle are pictures selected to feature in the daily 'Fab Four'.

The collages alternate with the monthly prompts.
Where the collage is in a grid the photos are in chronological order. It may be  a bit more challenging in the other months to link to the photo to the prompts, hey ho!

Releasing photos from your PC

Here's an simple project for you:

Get your photos printed onto business cards (I used moo.com)
On one side there is the same image on all of them, the other side has different images on every one.

Punch little holes in the middle of the top and bottom edges

Link them together with paper clips

Hang them on a thin piece of dowling, or a garden cane.

Attach to the ceiling with hooks (I stuck mine with no nails glue - no DIY involoved)

Step back and enjoy.

Paris!

I'm off to Paris for a night away with the family and I'm hoping for some lovely light and clear skies for sketching and photos. Still, if it rains I might get some arty reflections. Batteries are charging and my camera, 2B pencil, and sketch book are about to be packed! Hopefully some pics on picasa at the weekend.

Streamside Walk

The object of this exercise was to find a photo and improve the composition. With overhanging trees, the path was very dark and the figure was further back and right in the centre. So I brightened up the whole scene and brought him closer. I used rather a lot of masking fluid! Watercolour on 160 gsm April 2005

St Mary's Church, Apsley

This is my parish church, taken from a photo on a dull day; one of my first attempts at a 'proper' painting. Watercolour on 160 gsm March 2005 I'm looking forward to publishing more accomplished pieces!

First Post

This is my 'KatharinesCreations' logo. My daughter when just a few months old the photo was edited with very basic 'posterisation'. Some posts will be drawings, some photos - others will be examples of cards or other crafts. Some things I do for myself, for the gratification of creating something, other things I have made for gifts or for sale. As far as possible I will put a date of when each item was created.
